Inching Forward

It's been a week since my last update and I am determined to show some progress on block #10 from Chester County Criswell Quilt. It is going well, just not much time spent on sewing/quilting again this week - obviously!! I am learning that slow progress is better than no progress at all - and that persistence is a valuable quality to cultivate in all areas of my life. Happy Quilting!

CCC block #10

I have begun on Chester County Criswell block #10. It is a lovely design. I have selected a rather bold and graphic print for it, inspired by the stripped fabric on one the of original blocks. I maintained the original size of the block, but could not help from tweaking the pattern slightly to a more desirable symmetry.  I look forward to sewing it soon! There are many changes around here. With dd off to her summer adventure I am freed up considerably. We'll see if I make good use of the time :)

Summer is here!

Graduation, track and volleyball season, awards banquets, out of town guests and very unfriendly storms with devastating tornadoes in our area have all kept me occupied for the past month. Soon dd will be headed away for summer internship and college and I will have a new life and I'm hoping it will have more time for quilting (and finishing my writing)!

CCC Block #10 (Did you notice a spot is missing?)
I finally finished Chester County Criswell quilt block #10. It was very fun to make two blocks! (one original size and other 112%).  I began work on block #11 last night. Again, it is my favorite paper cut style block - plus I always like the look of a Fleur-de-Lis emblem! I think it will go fast and I will be caught up again soon. Happy Quilting to all!

A view of the Sunday May 19th tornado from my church parking lot in Shawnee, OK. We are thankful for the basement! Very scary and devastating results, but nothing compared to the tragedy the next day, about 30 miles away in Oklahoma City /Moore area. Thanks so much for the help and prayers from around the world!
