Buds

Here is the start on buds for block #12 Chester Criswell quilt. The smaller the photo the better they look! I am only satisfied with the lower far  right bud. The others have so much stitching showing. I think part of the challenge is that my thread is not a good match. Hum... I'll keep trying! That is my favorite little scissor tool in the photo and the last flower that needs a center cut into it and sewn.

It's interesting that you are doing the reverse appliqué 1st whilst they are 'free floating'. I did mine after I'd tacked the pomegranate or flower to the background. This might help you to have them stabilised before reverse appliquéing.

Hi Wanda, I think they look great.
I also do my reverse appliqué before applying the piece to the background. I leave a larger piece of the red until the stitching is finished and then trim the extra.
So I place the leaf on a piece of red stitch and then trim the red. That way I have more fabric to hold in my hand.
Clear as mud right.
